		<description>Subcontracting makes so much sense - businesses need the flexibility to scale up and down to deliver on projects.

All that happens in our industry is that work gets subcontracted offshore - so the subcontracting isn&#039;t eliminated, just the market opportunity for many Aussies is. 

Where I think there is legitimate concern is where a person is contracted to a single employer for many years - that is a mask for full time employment. However the ATO is wise to this so there are really no tax breaks in doing so anyway.

The only place for unions is in monopoly employment situations and many of these are in the 3 big election issue areas - health, police and education - which look less attractive as career choices.
